The Nethercutt Collection

October 23, 2014 by Shanna Judkins 1 Comment

The Nethercutt Museum is a Southern California hidden gem. The collection features rare mechanical musical instruments and antique furniture to the true heart of the collection: over 250 American and European automobiles dating from 1898 to 1997. Unlike other museums, everything in the collection has been lovingly restored, maintained, and are all in working order. All the vehicles are all registered and driven on a yearly basis and can even be seen in the Tournament of Rose's Parade carrying … [Read more...]

A Fourth of July spent in Julian, Ca

July 17, 2014 by Shanna Judkins Leave a Comment

Nestled in the Volcan Mountains there is the small old mining town of Julian. They are well known for their apples and the greatest little town Fourth of July parade in America. The parade and their apples are why we got up at the crack of dawn and made the three hour drive to this quaint town. Unbeknownst to us was that there was a fire raging close by and even though they had it pretty much under control by the time we got there,  the town needed to cancel the parade in order to keep the main … [Read more...]

Weird West Adams Tour

July 2, 2014 by Shanna Judkins Leave a Comment

There is so much more to Los Angeles than meets the eye. Los Angeles is filled with great history and architecture. Unfortunately, a lot of the early architecture is gone, but the history still remains. A great way to immerse yourself into that history is by taking a tour led by some very passionate people. I believe Kim Cooper and Richard Schave, owners of An Esotouric ™  Bus Adventure, are just the right people to show you the history that Los Angeles has to offer. They offer several … [Read more...]

The Getty Villa is a must stop for any art lovers who are planning on a trip to Southern California. You can easily spend a whole day here exploring all the rooms filled with beautiful art, relaxing in the herb garden, or you can spend a whole afternoon just taking in the incredible view of the Pacific Ocean. Crystal Gold Mine

April 11, 2014 by Shanna Judkins Leave a Comment

If you are looking for a couple hours of fun and history, then make your way up to the Idaho panhandle. Located right outside of the picturesque town of Kellogg, Id, is the Crystal Gold Mine. I highly recommend a quick drive through or if the weather is nice, a nice stroll through the town of Kellogg before making your way over to the mine. The Crystal Gold Mine offers a tour of the mine, great history, and an opportunity to pan for some gold. This was the first hard rock … [Read more...]

Spy Exhibit at the Ronald Reagan Library

February 21, 2014 by Shanna Judkins Leave a Comment

Seeing as it was President's weekend, we thought it would be a good time to go over to the Ronald Reagan's Library and check out their current exhibit: SPY: The Secret World of Espionage. This is a great exhibit of never before seen objects and documents from the CIA, KGB, FBI, National Reconnaissance Office and the clandestine world of spies. The exhibit starts with the history of where our current CIA got its start. Following the bombing of Pearl Harbor, President Roosevelt … [Read more...]
